VMWare and GigaSpaces have announced a new partnership focused on open standards-based orchestration for NFV applications.

More specifically, GigaSpaces open-source TOSCA (Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications) proposition Cloudify, will support VMware’s vCloud NFV offering as it strives towards expanding its role in the Telco Cloud subsector. The key message throughout the majority of VMWare’s marketing messages has been cost reduction and increased agility through service delivery platform virtualization, and this will continue with the new GigaSpaces collaboration.

The pair claim when the two propositions are used together, customers can automate lifecycle management of critical network functions and services, through VNF deployment, to improve the efficiency of resources. GigaSpaces will be developing a VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack as part of the collaboration.

Cloudify with vCloud NFV was featured in the VMware NFV Hands-On-Lab at VMworld US 2016, and will also be featured during the European edition of the show next week in Barcelona.
